IWC established itself as a manufacturer of aviation watches, starting with the first watch ever developed solely for aviation, the Spezialuhr für Flieger or Special Pilot's Watch, in 1936. Some years later, they created one of the most sought after military watches in history - The Mark XI

The Mark XI entered military service in 1949 and was decommissioned in 1981. Its size (slightly small by today's standards) belies the sturdiness and dependability of this robust navigating machine.

This 36mm bronze beauty is love song to the Mark XI. The rich hunter green dial is evocative of a military inspiration, and its case will develop a character and patina entirely unique to each piece. The synthesis of adventurous spirit and vintage styling is accentuated by a nato strap made from shipwrecked reindeer leather by British shoemaker George Cleverley.
